Employers
He Toki plays a vital role in supporting its learners into sustainable employment and apprenticeship training opportunities. This depends on a range of factors that includes a vibrant and competitive job market, the work-readiness of a learner to help us sell your skills and development to an employer, and the commitment of employers to develop our learners to thrive in the industry.
To achieve this He Toki has developed the following programmes:
Ara Employer Expo
He Toki and Ara have collaborated together to deliver the Ara Employer Expo held in June at the Ara Trades campus in Woolston, Christchurch.
The event attracts over 30 local trades industry employers and agencies. The aim of the expo is to connect our trades students with a cross section of local industry employers for employment and apprenticeship opportunities. The expo also provides a space to strengthen industry networks and relationships.
The expo has been supported by the following groups: BCITO, Blokhaus Recruitment, City Care Water, Cook Brothers, Downers, Drake International, Enterprise Recruitment, Fulton Hogan, HEB Construction, Helix Global, Hush Interiors, ITAB, Inception Electrical, JNJ Homes, Kiwirail, Leighs Construction, Lyttelton Engineering, Max People, Ministry of Social Development, Mitre10, Naylor Love, NZ Army, NZ Police, Pacific Peoples Trust, Paul Kelly Motors, Pro Active Drive, Remarkable People, Safety n Action, Skillford & Co, Smart Systems, Switched On Group, Tech 5, Topa Electrical, Track Industries.
NEW!
He Toki Sponsors Programme (HTSP)
In 2024 He Toki will pilot a new sponsorship programme in partnership with Naylor Love Canterbury and Ara Institute of Canterbury to support student achievement and strengthen the transition into apprenticeships and employment.
HTSP will aim to connect industry employers with our trade training students over the duration of their training at Ara Trades campus. It is designed to boost student confidence, to motivate them to successfully complete their trades qualifications, and to create sustainable futures into the building and construction industry.
How it works:
-
Suitable trainees are matched with sponsors through a rigorous selection and screening process.
-
Sponsors choose from a range of sponsorship activities that provides value to their organisation and the trainee.
-
Sponsors are provided with regular progress reports to monitor student performance.
